Forney ISD Voters Approve $30 Million Bond

(Posting Date: 5/10/2010)

Voters in Forney ISD approved the $30 million bond proposal for the district in an election held on Saturday, May 8, 2010. More than 62 percent of the voters in the election supported the district's bond proposal.

The 2010 FISD Bond approved by voters involves renovations and additions spread throughout the District. These renovations and additions include updating security at several elementary and both middle schools; parking and athletic additions at North Forney High School and additions and renovations to the Career and Technology Education (CTE), administration, fine arts, food service and athletic areas at Forney High School.

In addition, the 2010 FISD Bond Program includes the purchase of the existing former First Baptist Church facilities located on Bois d'Arc near downtown Forney.

Due to the fact that Forney ISD is able to restructure existing debt, the 2010 Forney ISD Bond will not create an increase in taxes.
